Dedecuron Vanyoradach is a Dara Happen hoplite who has been appointed Constable and does his best to communicate with offenders before resorting to the spear shaft. He offically reports to the Judex, a Dara Happen nobleman who mostly lets him get on with the job, only getting involved when someone well connected is accused of a crime. Vanyoradach tries to avoid that happening if at all possible. As a general enforcer of army regulations and discipline he is competent and effective if rather inclined to use obscure regulations to crack down on activities he disapproves of such as indecency and immoral behaviour. Where he comes seriously unstuck is when he's ordered to investigate crimes with no obvious suspect. Basically if the evidence isn't right in front of him he'll never find it.
