Arriving at Whitewall

This is the first encounter the player characters have at Whitewall, in 1619 and early 1620 it will be at one of the gates. After the Lunars have blocked the main routes it will be at a rendevous with someone prepared to smuggle them in to Whitewall.

The Player Characters are greeted in the normal Heortling manner by the thane in charge of the gate. This is Kistrad the Steady of the Reaching Stone Clan although the narrator may chose to substitute someone else. Anyone with an ability in Heortling Customs can respond but whoever it is will be assumed to be the leader of the party. Considerable importance is placed on who they are, who knows them and why they are there.

The contest is a straight forward one of Heortling Customs against a resistence of 14 modified as follows:

Lying will probably be detected by Kistrad reinforced as he is by the truth magic of the gate, if the players insist on trying it the opposition is 6W2 and detection either then or later will result in them being treated as enemies by everyone in the city.
