Illig Stargazer

An NPC in the Swords campaign, Warleader of Hereward's Legion.

We haven't said a lot abut Illig as yet. Quite a lot about his sword, though.

Here's what we get from the Legion writeup on the main web-site

"Illig Stargazer, who knows the secrets of looking down at battlefields from the stars."

The Legion is sometimes known as "Illig's Regulars".

Almost straight out of Storm Tribe: "The Warleader is the ultimate commander of the legion, and is also the head of Hereward’s cult. Usually elected by the Hundred Thanes from amongst their number, the Warleader should have Relationship to Legion and Warband Tactics each at 10W2. The Warleader is attended by a file of devotees, lead by the Standard Bearer and the Piper."

There are also references to Illig in Vastyr's backstory, and in some 85%-written bits of Dori's (he's been Warleader for at least 12 years in our game-time, 10 years in 1619), and has a reputation for always knowing what any Legion member has been doing, even when he can't possibly have had any means of finding out.)

And he gets one tiny bit of Chronicle: when Aelf calls on the Legion Wyter from the HeroPlane, and Illig notices and gives us Legion support as a result.

But considering that he's our ultimate boss, and this game has been going on for a long time, we know surprisingly little about him.

It occurs to me that that ability to look down at battlefields from the stars was last heard of as a Polaris Feat. How did Illig get hold of it? Taken from some Polaris Devotee on the HeroPlane?
