Kistrad is a Heortling thane of the Reaching Stone clan and devotee of Durev the householder. A middle aged man, he has spent most of his life farming which shows in his muscular body. Solidly competent at whatever he turns his hand to, he compensates for lack of flair with a careful attention to detail. Kistrad was expecting to spend the rest of his life with his wife and children farming when the Lunars invaded, whereupon he reluctantly picked up spear and shield to join his King at Whitewall?. There are many greater warriors at Whitewall and his lack of political ambition keeps him out of most of the decision making but he is well liked and respected by both clan and tribe. When a position of responsibility and little opportunity for glory required filling Kistrad was an obvious candidate. Thus he was appointed one of several gate-thanes, taking charge of a gate and checking all who pass through it. The gate party he leads are mostly from his own stead and several are relatives including his oldest children. Some of the younger members of the party would rather be doing something more exciting but all are strongly loyal to Kistrad. Early in the siege he recognised a Lunar spy who was trying to enter disguised as a loyal Sartarite? and detained him in the guard room while waiting for someone to interrogate the spy. Since then his opinion has often been sought on people who are not well known to the leadership.

<Donald>
<Charles>Suggest that he should have good relationships to clan and tribe, probably around the 5-10W level, and maybe a loyalty to Broyan or a 2IC.
<Jane>And give him that "attention to detail" as an ability.
<Donald>Good ideas, although I've made his loyalty to the position of tribal king rather than Broyan as an individual. Won't make a difference in the GAG but might in someone's game.
