The Larnsti are a magical brotherhood founded by Hendreik the Free, the unconquered rebel who resisted the Gbaji Empire, helped Harmast, supported Arkat and made Owenreth High King of the Heortlings. Hendreik Freeman brought together the Larnsti from the residents of the many holy places in the region. He taught them secrets of Larnste, the god of Change. By being unfettered in thought and soul, the Larnsti could also be free in action.
The Heortlings that the Larnsti protected became known as the Hendreiki, for the spirit of Hendreik protected them. The Hendreiki chose their high king from amongst the amongst the Larnsti until King Andrin? transformed the Hendreiki into the kingdom of Heortland. He replaced the clan chiefs with nobles, approtioned the kingdom into Marches ruled by barons and appointed four earls to oversee the barons. Henceforth these nobles would wield Hendreik’s Freedom, and the king's successors would be found among them and not the Larnsti. The ancient protection of Hendreik's Freedom is now almost gone.
