Within the plateau is a huge stables carved from the solid rock. It has room for hundreds of horses and was built by Hostris the Rider. The magic of Redalda suffuses the cavern keeping the fodder fresh and the horses calm. Water is supplied from one of the cisterns (or it has its own) and magical lights keep away the dark. There is a long passageway for an exit that is guarded by watchposts and traps. The exit is hidden by a combination of natural features and magic. Access is obtained by a long pathway from the city whch is only wide enough for one person at a time. This pathway can be easily blocked to prevent enemy incursions.
<New bit>Hostris the Rider managed to communicate with the Blooded Hag somehow and learned a path through the maze below the Tor. This magic is used to access the stable. The physical manisfestation of this is a curved auroch's horn.
Because of the twisty nature of the passages the entrance to the Stables can be quite variable. Formerly it was accessed from the outside but now of course its only opened from the inside. This makes for a frustrating situation since the entrance could appeare anywhere around the base of the Tor. This could be good or bad and makes it unreliable as a tactical advantage.
A descendant of Hostris the Rider comes to the Tor every generation or so to re-enact the magic required to open the Stables.</new bit><Oliver>
This allows for cavalry raids on the enemy, the defenders sneaking out to look for fodder, Lunar efforts to find the stables, and a desparate (and poignant) final battle for the stables as defenders fight for the lives of their favourite steeds once the Lunars find it. Perhaps this is the spot that was broken into by the Shargashi and later flooded.
